Information for shippers

The loss of your goods during transit has a direct impact on your relations with the customer. This is particularly true when it becomes clear that your goods can no longer be located. The more urgent the delivery is, the bigger the problem. In the worst case, you may even lose your customer.

Possessing transit insurance cover may put your mind at rest in some respects, though it can lead to higher costs later on if major losses are incurred and premiums adjusted accordingly. Depending on the type of goods, there is even a danger of the transit risk becoming uninsurable.

You do, of course, work with select carriers who will make every effort to ensure your cargo is relocated should it go missing during transit. They are transport specialists, after all, and as a customer you have a right to expect good service.

Yet adverse circumstances can lead to a situation in which your goods can no longer be located. Depending on the urgency and type of goods involved, you can resolve the problem by shipping replacement goods to your customer and reporting the loss to your insurance company for settlement (with the possibility of your premiums being increased as a consequence).

If the goods lost become a genuine problem, we are ready to act as a task force on your behalf!

It goes without saying that you pay us only if we are successful! Before accepting any assignment we send you a quotation to allow you to judge whether the cost justifies the use of our services. This will always be the case, of course, as our fee represents only a fraction of the costs incurred if your goods are not found.

The following may be good reasons for involving us:

  • You stand to incur a contractual penalty if the goods lost are not found and delivered to the customer on time.

  • Your fitters are waiting for spare parts on site and each day lost will cost you good money, especially if they are abroad.

  • A potential assembly line shutdown is leading to costs it is hard to put a figure on.
No replacement is currently available for a lost prototype and it could take months before you can effect delivery.

  • The goods lost are subject to a use-by date (e.g. medication) and must be found as soon as possible.

  • You wish to ensure that your goods will not be found somewhere and sold to a buyer who will then put them on the market, which could damage your company's reputation in the long term.

There are doubtless a host of other sound reasons that could cause you to contact us in order to resolve an acute problem.

We are familiar with the special processes involved at large multinationals, offer worldwide cargo tracing services and have many years of experience in our specialist field. If you would like to avail yourself of our services, we are there for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
